Disney Wine and Dine Half this past Saturday and Sunday. Started on Saturday, took me all the way to Sunday to finish! Okay, it didn't start till 10:00. Disney races are a lot of fun, like a big party the whole way. But slower times as they are packed. Great to be in Orlando visiting my son, his wife, my grandson and my other son...and my daughter from Canada who came to visit.
Last weekend before I did another double, fort4fitness at Fort Wayne and State to State in Oxford Ohio, both really great runs. 42 for the year now, 10 to go to get to the Sun on Half Fanatics!
Mania: an obsessional enthusiasm or partiality.
There is no logical reason to run, walk or slog for 13 miles. Why did I sign up to do 13 in 78 days this spring? So that I can receive 3 more planets in a mythical universe called halffanatics.com
Welcome to my Psychosis.
And now that I accomplished that goal, I signed up to do 28 in six months to get to Mercury, or eight moons. And since I accomplished that, I'm working on 52 in a year to reach the sun!. When will the madness end!!??

Wow, I have a lot to catch up on. Just the facts 'mam: August 6th, Eagle Creek. Aug 15, Rock and Roll Chicago where I did my 28th in far less than 6 months so now on Mercury in Halffanatics. And the five weekends since then I've done 11 halfs: doubles every weekend except Labor day when I did a triple. Whew. I'm getting tired just remembering all this. Oktoberfest in Grand Haven Michigan yesterday, outstanding course. And Capital City River Run in Lansing today, another outstanding beautiful course. 39 halfs so far this year.

Half marathon #26 in 20 weeks, Portland MI relay for life. Hot, really pretty course though. Ran on trails along a river and around town, mostly in the shade. They ran out of medals and said they'd mail me one! No gatorade on course, only water, weird. They did hand out bandana's soaked in ice water.

Does an official unofficial half marathon count as an official half marathon? Cuz I ran one last week but didn't post it on halffanatics.com. A running club called 13.1x12 put it on here on the Monon trail and about a dozen people ran it. It was fun anyway, my old stomping ground for training before I started doing halfs every weekend four months ago.
Saturday (7-23) was a blast, in Hoffman Estates Il. Met a few new fanatics and ran with Jill and Dave for most of the race till I ditched them the last couple miles. Sorry!! The heat doesn't bother me when it's raining and overcast. If only I could get so lucky the next few weeks.

Sunday July 10th, Rock and Sole Milwaukee. Why am I a week late blogging this one? Let me count the ways. Didn't start till 8 Central when the sun is already really high. Was in the mid 80's for all of the race. Almost no shade on the course. And they ran out of water, gatorade, and cups by the SECOND water stop!! Add that all up and it means pulling over in Kenosha Wi on the way home after I passed out in the car with a cold sweat. 2 liters of fluid and meds fixed me up. Ugh. Today I get an email offering a partial rebate and discount for next years. Thanks, but no thanks.
Saturday, July 9th. Duo at the Ledge in Grand Ledge Michigan. Condoms in the hotel vending machine again!! The difference between a $55 room and $100 is amazing! This looked like it hadn't been renovated since maybe 1975. Great race, small field, country roads. Got to help the trash guys throw trash in the truck as they went by! Started at 6:00 so not a bad day, didn't get real warm till the end.

Hungry Duck Half in Brighton Michigan, about 10 miles north of Ann Arbor. Not too hot considering it's July 4th. These July halfs have me a little nervous, but was in the low 70's and mostly shaded course. Medal is a rubber duck tied with a bead necklace, pretty creative, and cool! Thought I was running DFL the whole way but a guy passed me at mile 8 that started 30 minutes late. Then I thought for sure I had last locked up but a guy was limping and walking and I didn't see him till I passed him 20 feet in front of the finish line/ Too bad, I wouldn't mind the dfl. Pretty course, police were nice on it offering to have their patrol car follow behind me but I declined.
